Announcement follows

DPUSEM (Dumlupinar University Lifelong Training Centre) is organizing a Grundtvig Workshop called "Valueing Art, Respecting Culture" under the framework of the Lifelong Learning Program - Grundtvig.

It will be held in Kütahya, Turkey from 22 to 28 November 2010 and will be attended by 14 participants.

This workshop promotes the use of visual art, particularly "Filigree", as a tool to increase knowledge, skills and cognitive abilities, cultural understanding and aesthetic appreciation for the targets via the use of non-formal tools and methodologies related to the field of "silver filigree work" and to develop ways of social and cultural integration through the use of non-formal languages
(Filigree).

Consequently, art in all its forms and expressions, provides not only the opportunity, but also the fundamental means for breaking down the dividing walls, which are not visible in everyday life, but which are still strongly
entrenched in people's minds and for this very reason harder to attack- such as racism and xenophobia. This is why we believe that "Filigree" as a visual art can represent a means of creating channels of communication between different cultures within a context of mutual respect, so as to enhance reciprocal knowledge and expression.

Participants involved in this workshop will learn to make simple filigree shapes ranging from simple pendants and earrings to more complex necklaces. Silver filigree is a style unique in itself, that's why participants will create their own unique style.

Be aware that there are only 14 places available.

Importantly, if your application to this Workshop is accepted, as a participant, you will gain 1 credit in terms of European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). ECTS makes teaching and learning in higher education more transparent across Europe and facilitates the recognition of all studies. The system allows for the transfer of learning experiences between different institutions, greater student
mobility and more flexible routes to gain degrees. It also aids curriculum design and quality assurance.

BUDGET
This workshop is funded by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme. That's why, 100% of all your expenses including your travel, accomodation, lodging, materials used during the Workshop, organized excursions, shortly whatever expenses comes to your mind, will be covered and financed by EU Lifelong Learning Programme.
